Diesel Power Mechanics consists of classroom lectures, hands-on shop work, and internship work experience. It consists of two programs: Intro Diesel Mechanics & Advanced Diesel Mechanics with a certificate awarded to successful completers. Students must be age 18 by the end of 3rd Quarter of the Advanced Diesel Mechanics courses (April 1st) to qualify for the Internship Class. Intro to Diesel contact areas include shop safety, basic hand tools, pneumatic power tools, measuring instruments, and diagnostic tools and procedures. Students will be trained on heavy/medium duty diesel trucks in four distinct areas: Preventive Maintenance, Steering & Suspension, Brakes, and Electrical/Electricity. Advanced Diesel students will be involved in the fundamental theory of operation, maintenance, disassembly/assembly, diagnosis, testing, rebuilding, and adjustment of heavy-duty truck/tractors engines and advanced electronics. |
