These courses are designed to explore the wide variety of careers in engineering and technology. Students will look at various technology systems and manufacturing processes. Using activities, projects, and problems, students learn first hand how engineers and technicians integrate math, science, and technology in an engineering problem-solving process to develop products that benefit people. Students will use three-dimensional modeling software to communicate the details of the products. Emphasis is placed on analyzing potential solutions and communicating ideas to others. Students use computer simulations to learn about logic of electronics as they design, test and actually construct circuits and devices. Students will experiment with robotics and micro-controllers. Lessons are project based and require teamwork to accomplish a variety of tasks. Upon completion of these courses, students will have a better understanding of the field of Engineering and technical processes. Students who earn qualifying grades have the opportunity to earn college credit for these pre-engineering courses. Prerequisite: Minimum requirements are: Completion or concurrent enrollment of Integrated Algebra/Geometry 2 or equivalent. |
