The Dental Assistant Program is designed to provide personalized training instruction. Learning components are competency based, allowing an individual approach to mastery of the skills necessary for each of the specific job tasks. Each student must master all the tasks to complete the program successfully. The course includes a combination of subject matter and experiences designed to prepare the students to assist at the chairside in the dental operatory, to perform reception and clerical functions, and carry out selected laboratory work. In addition, the student will gain skills required for direct patient care, such as taking x-rays and impressions, preventive and nutritional counseling, etc.
